Of Romantic D & s

Anna & Elena Balbusso, twins, are a freelance illustration team living in Milan, Italy. Award winners of the Society of Illustrators, they have produced creative fine art and illustrated classical novels and children’s books for 15 years internationally in France, United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Republic of Korea and Italy.

The Age of Innocence (E. Wharton)

Using a distinctive flat painterly style that incorporates a contemporary aesthetic with elements from various historical periods, their artwork has been published by major publishers and companies throughout the world on various media types such as book jackets, magazines, newspapers, in house corporate, ads, children’s books and classic novels.

While their work is intended exclusively for mainstream art and publishing markets, i was struck by the nostalgic appeal of two charming examples of their paintings that are representative of what i would loosely term as traditional romantic D & s art, the viewing of which, i must joyfully proclaim, delightfully presses all of my submissive buttons. Enjoy.
